How to treat slashed wrists?
How do you treat slashed wrists? What kind of bandaging, and does it make a difference which way the wrists were cut? I'm not planning on doing this, I'm just curious.
Answers:
Until you can get bandages have them keep their arm in freezing cold water. If unconscious, run the tub over them extremely cold. This will slow blood flow I have heard. Find gauze. Apply it. Make sure 911 is on its way after you apply the water, then get gauze. If left untreated, it may heal itself, it may not. Many people slip out of consciousness after suicide attempts and wake up right where they were.
Just Bandage it with gauze, tightly. If extremely heavy, imminently life threatening bleeding, make a tourniquet out of whatever you have. Loosen it once every minute or so for a few seconds, and this will lessen the risk of amputation being neccesary.
