Should taking a Valium help ease a tension headache?!

Question:

Should taking a Valium help ease a tension headache?

Answers:

I do not recommend that. Diazepam main usage is for anxiety with the acute onset of agitation, muscle tremor/spasms, delirium, and hallucinosis. Not for tension headaches.

You may be better off taking NSAIDS. For instance, take two 500 mg Tylenol every 6 hours, and one 200 mg Advil or ibuprofen 3 hours after initial Tylenol dose, then repeat after second and third doses of Tylenol so that you alternate Tylenol and Advil every 3 hours.

Try putting a cold ice pack wrapped with a thin towel, placed over your eyes and forehead for 30 minutes at a time. Drink lots of fluids, as dehydration aggravates symptoms. And take every opportunity to nap or sleep for 30 minutes at a time.

Good luck!
