Go to the Doctor. The doctor will probably put it in a splint and give you a pain killer and tell you to let it heal... I have sprained wrists healing now, and it takes a long time for hand and wrist injuries to heal if they are bad. Months depending on what happened to your joints, bones, tendons when the injury occurred. Yes, icing it will help, and it is painful/uncomfortable if you ice it correctly. Good luck!

About three weeks ago, I felt like it was hopeless and my wrists would never be the same, but they are much better now and I can actually do pull-ups and other excercises again that I could not do for months.

Since it is just your finger it will probably pretty fast, the only finger that bothers me a bit still is my pinky on the right hand.
