Dizziness...need advice!?!

Question:

Dizziness...need advice!?

Lately I have been feeling dizzy, not all the time but when I stand up I'll have to hold onto the wall or something because the world spins. I'm only twelve, and I've told my parents and they've said its probably nothing. Should I be worried?

Answers:

I don't think it's probably nothing. It sounds to me like you might be anemic, which means you have low blood.

Go get a blood test done. MAKE your parents take you.

What you can do in the meantime is eat well. You need iron. Eat red meat, brazil nuts, liver if you can stomach it, anything iron rich (it will constipate you if you overdo it however!) and try to get your B vitamins in too. Eat cereal and milk.

When you get up, do not get up too fast or you might faint.

It could just be stress that teens often feel but best you get checked out. Try and get a lot of rest and take multivitamins daily too.

Sometimes you can have a virus or even an inner ear problem can cause VERTIGO...which is that dizzy off balance feeling all the time. Again your doctor should give you a check up. Surely your parents can't object to that! Have her look at your ears too. Sometimes even excess ear wax can cause Vertigo and it really throws you off balance.

Good luck kiddo.
