Anyone know the difference between a pinched nerve and muscle strain? 3 days ago!

Question:

Anyone know the difference between a pinched nerve and muscle strain? 3 days ago I hurt my neck & upper back,?

and I was wondering which it could be? I can't turn my head as much as before. Still hurts.

Answers:

With a pinched nerve, you will have radiating pain down your arms and into your fingers from the spine compressing the nerve. You would most likely have some tingling and/or numbing sensations down your arms. With a muscle strain, you will have tightness and discomfort in one area. A muscle spasm may occur as well with a strain. In my opinion, I think you have a muscle strain based on your symptoms of not being able to turn your head as much as before. I would apply ice and gently stretch your neck. You can take ibuprofen, but if the problem persists much longer, I would see your doctor and he can prescibe physical therapy. Good luck!
