Why do people want universal health care?!

Question:

Why do people want universal health care?

What happens to those of us who have health care? Would my health insurance become free?

Answers:

Because a basic level of health care should be available to everyone regardless of income. People pay into the system according to their income and use basic services according to their need.

I'm in Israel and we have socialized medicine. It's great. I can see my doctor whenever I want. If I need a specialist I just get a referral from my doctor.

Universal health would not mean the end of private health insurance or private doctors. You health insurance premium would most likely go way down due to most services being covered by universal health. I pay about $15 extra a month for services not covered by national insurance.

Most drugs are subsidized and much cheaper than in the States. I pay about $25 a month for meds that would be over $200 in the States.
