What sunscreen do I need?
I live in Wisconsin, and in November I am traveling to Mexico. I was going to buy SPF 70, but someone told me after 15 SPF it doesn't really matter, and it protects just the same. Is this true? If not, do I really need SPF 70 or can I get by with something lower?
Answers:
The spf tells you how much longer you can stay in the sun that without it. Let's say you can stay in the sun 30 minutes before you burn with no sunscreen. If you have SPF 15 on, you can say out 15 times longer (15x30 = 7.5 hours).
Now, in Mexico you may start burning after only a few minutes if you are fair like me so SPF 15 is only going to buy you 15 minutes or so. Go with the 70.
