Has anyone ever heard of a pain pace maker?!
Question:
Has anyone ever heard of a pain pace maker?
Answers:
Could you be thinking of a spinal cord stimulator? It is a small generator implanted under the skin (about the size of a pacemaker) that sends impulses to leads (wires/paddles) that are placed on the spinal cord. The theory is that the pain signals can be replaced by the sensation (kind of a tingling, I'm told) delivered by the spinal cord stimulator BEFORE they get to the brain to be perceived/felt as pain.
This is an option for patients that suffer from chronic pain who have tried other non-surgical care.
