Hammer toes?!

Question:

Hammer toes?

i just turned 14 amd i am male. In christmas, my dad bought me basketball shoes that were size 8 1/2. I was only 13 1/2 and the top of the shoe had a half an inch distance between my toe. So i kept using that shoe until my feet grew 2 months later. my toe reached the end of the shoe but i kept wearing them. So my feet kept growing (i think) and it kinda felt tight but then it stop anoying me. In july, i realized that i was developing hammer toes, so i have been developing hammer toes for 4 months when the shoe stop fitting me. but it is not that severe cuz they are not curved enough and they can straighten very easily.

My q's are:
1. Is it true that if ur feet stop growing, ur whole body will stop growing too?
2. will hammer toes stop my feet from growing?
3. will i grow in height and in foot length?
4. what is the treatment for hammer toes?
5. will my toes straighten naturaly?
6. will i be ok?

Answers:

1. No, the growth of your feet has no correlation to the growth of your body. Your body will continue to grow until you are 21 years old. Only disease or poor nutrition will affect your growth which is pre-determined by genetics.

2. Hammer toes will not impact the growth of your foot.

3. You will grow in height until you are 21. As for your feet, they will also grow since you are still growing.

4. See a podiatrist asap for your hammer toe. If treated early (while toe is flexible), treatment is very simple usually with special exercises. If you wait, the toe will become "fixed" and then surgery will be the only treatment option.

5. Your toes will probably straighten naturally only with the proper exercises.

6. Yes, you will be okay. See a podiatrist (foot doctor) for your toe and things will work out just fine.
