Sprained Ankle. 3 months.?

I sprained my ankle 3 months ago, and I've went to the doctor a twice. The first time, he said 3 weeks. The second time, he told me to keep strenghthening it and it will get better. I've been doing exercises, and got a lot better at first, but now th progress has stopped. I can run and stuff, but when I try to jump and dunk a basketball, my ACHILLES hurts. I dont know why but it is my achilles. My foot is still a little swollen. Can someone give me advice other than go see the doctor?

Did you go to physical therapy? If not then you should b/c you need to make sure you strengthen all the muscles around your ankle (not just the calf), and re-train your balance. What you are experiencing now is achilles tendinitis and that can be treated with physical therapy. Most likely you calf muscle is tightened up and that is one of the main causes of your tendinitis. You also need to be icing your ankle and heel area daily.
