Remember learning the scientific method in high school?
1. Come up with a hypothesis.
2. Test the hypothesis.
3. Make a statement, adjusting the hypothesis to fit the results of your tests.
That is what the medical profession is all about. Medicine IS the scientific method. It is a trial and error thing. The doctor comes up with a suspected diagnosis (hypothesis), he runs tests, starts medications while waiting for those results. Then he gets the test results back, and must decide what is going on. After he makes his final diagnosis, based on the tests and his assessment of the patient, he adjusts his hypothesis (or diagnosis) as needed to fit the test findings.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!!!!
