How do you heal an injured knee fast?!

Question:

How do you heal an injured knee fast?

I have a race in two days time and i got injured 3 days ago.

What can I do to make my knee heal faster?

Answers:

I agree with the folks here, you don't.

That race probably seems like the most important thing in the world to you right now, and you may run in it (and reinjure yourself) anyway. But, it's not the most important thing... your health is the most important thing.

I played basketball in high school and college. I believed my coach when he told us, no pain, no gain. I'd ice my knees, tape my knees, use a hot pack, whatever it took. I HAD to play. It was the most important thing in my life.

Now, years later, I'm paying the price. I'm probably 20 years too young for a knee replacement, but my orthopod told me to come to him when I'm ready. I'd love to do it today to escape the pain. But... not yet.

So, just to be able to work, I ice my knee, put on a hot pack, wear a brace when I need, get cortisone shots ever 3 months, and use whatever I can to get through the day.

So, you can't heal it quickly. Your body will take its own sweet time about that matter. You can probably dull the pain enough to run your race. But, along with running that race, you also run a chance of hurting yourself worse - maybe much, much worse.

Good luck. I hope your knee feels better soon.
