Have you had rotator cuff surgery?!

Question:

Have you had rotator cuff surgery?

i recently had surgery to have my rotator cuff repaired, and im in agony! i have dicussed this with my doctor, and i understand it takes a long time to heal, and that it will be really painful for awhile, but i want some feedback from people that have actually had the same surgery. its VERY uncomfortable all the time, it pulls, it burns, its very swollen, and i cannot move it AT ALL!! please share with me your experience with it, describe the pain, and how long it took to get back to normal activies. thank you for your help!

Answers:

You are not supposed to move it at all. How long since you had the surgery? Your arm should still be in a sling. I think mine was for 6 weeks. The only time you should be moving it is when at physiotherapy. Follow the therapists instructions. The pain does get better, slowly. Everyone heals at a different rate. It is not an easy recovery but eventually you do recover. Some are slower than others. It took a year before I was ready to go back to work.(heavy lifting job) Do not overdo or you'll end up having it to do all over again. Be patient.
