How do you reduce coughing caused by smoking?!

Question:

How do you reduce coughing caused by smoking?

I have something of a smoker's cough from 10 years of smoking -- how do I get rid of it? And don't tell me to quit -- you're not funny or helpful

Answers:

unfortunately smoking directly paralyses cilia in the lungs. these are little hairs(kinda) that flick up mucus out of the lungs. the mucus catches bacteria and dust and protects the lungs. as smoking paralyses them your body initiates its second best method of clearing mucus out of the lungs. and that is coughing.

so no cure and no alternative. if you suppressed the coughing you would most likely get pneumonia or some other infection and end up in intensive care.

sorry
