Too late for physical therapy? Old knee injury.?!

Question:

Too late for physical therapy? Old knee injury.?

Hey guys. Back in my freshman year of high school, I dislocated my left knee playing soccer, and was sent to the emergency room and stuff. Anyway, I was eventually prescribed physical therapy, which I slacked off in, and am now regretting it. My knee still gives me pain occasionally...I had shooting pains in it yesterday at work. It isn't so bad that it prevents me from doing physical activities (most of the time), but I was simply wondering if it is too late for physical therapy to have an effect if I wanted to give it a serious shot.

Oh, sorry. Forgot to mention my age. I'm actually 18 now, and going into my Freshman year of college next year.

Answers:

While it may not be too late, I would suggest that you follow up with an orthopedist prior to resuming PT...a lot of changes may have taken place over the years...some of which could potentially be made worse by PT.

Good luck and hopefully PT is all you need.
