Does the Canadian health care system provide surgery for nerve root decompressio!

Question:

Does the Canadian health care system provide surgery for nerve root decompression on the spine?

I saw the movie Sicko and the movie did not go into the specifics on what type health care would be provided for and to what degree the coverage would be. I have had 4 back surgeries and I have full insurance coverage. I think our health insurance is not very responsive to people who are in pain except to give them pain killers and that leads to addiction. I would appreciate your opinion of universal (free) health care as in Canada.

Answers:

My hearing impared nephew recieved free hearing aids and speech therapy.
My mother, who suffered a shoulder injury has had free surgury and a large percentage of her chiropractor bill is paid because it has allowed her to get off her pain killers, which were also paid for because it was a work-accident.
My sister had a baby recently and if she hadn't had OHIP (ontario healthcare) it would have cost her over 1000$ a night.
I've never herd of anyone not recieving the care they needed and it was at no cost.
Telling someone they have to decided if they can afford to re-attach a finger, or having an insurance company refuse to pay for a dieing child to recieve care at a particular hospital is mind-blowing.
I'm sure there are lots of benifits to the health care system in America if your rich, but as a person who's family has limited resources I cannot imagine living anywhere elce.
