Why do we as humans catch the "common cold" so often?!
Question:
Why do we as humans catch the "common cold" so often?
I was under the impression that once we have had/caught something and then got over that thing our bodies then created an immunity or defence to that thing. I know that our bodies do not get over everything and sometimes need help from medication but why is it that we can keep getting colds. I only ask because I must get a cold at least once every 3 months. Also if there is an obvious answer is there anything I can do to protect my body better? Thanks for your help in advance. Sam.
Answers:
B/c a cold is a viral infection...there are millions of different kinds....its not like a bacterial, it cant be treated with antibiotic. viral infections mutate and become different everytime its passed on...so you can have a cold, get rid of it and then catch it again b/c its changed-its become a different type of virus.
