It will probably form a small callus around the area containing the splinter. You probably should remove it, though. It could cause trouble later. I would wait until the small callus forms around the area and then gently work the splinter out with a sterilized sewing needle. You can sterilize it by using rubbing alcohol or some simply use a match (0ld fashioned way).
My suggestion is remove it. Then after it is removed, make sure to place an antibiotic ointment around the area and cleanse daily with alcohol as well.
Even though it is not bothering you, it can become quite bothersome.
