Why do bruises change color over time?!

Question: Why do bruises change color over time?
In like february, i ran my thigh into the corner of my friend's wooden bed, n resulted in a big deep purple and blue bruise, and then after a while it became yellow and green. like seriously yellow and green

when i got it, icould like feel the bump underneath it, but that's not the point..
and now it's march 6 and almost had no color, just a dark skin color, but i still feel it.

How long do intense brusies last, 16 days? is that a lot ? ._.

it hurt like hellwhen i hit my leg.

anyways i just wanna know why they change color? why not just fade out?

i felt like mine when through the dammn color wheel.

Answers:

They change color because what a bruise is is an under the skin bleeding sore. All the capillaries are broken when you hit the area and they bleed out. At first its swollen and dark cause it's fresh blood. As it heals, the bruise changes color as the blood is removed from the area with normal blood circulation. Your bump should go down within a few weeks as all the swelling leaves the area.

A bruise is really a pool of blood under the skin. Blood is the color blue until it gets oxygen. So when you first get a bruise it looks blue because there is blood directly under your skin and is not in contact with oxygen.
Have you ever bled on something and a while later the red blood looks brown after it has dried and sat for a while? That's the same thing that happens under your skin. The blood is old, so it starts to turn brown.
