Why do I often get electrocuted after I drive my car?!
Question:
Why do I often get electrocuted after I drive my car?
After I drive my car, then I get out of it, I open the car door, then I push the car door to close it (I obviously have to touch the metal body of my car's door), then all of a sudden I feel electrocuted in the fingers that I use to push the door close, and it produces a sparking sound!! Can somebody tell me what's happening to me?? Can I get a cure of this? It's really annoying...
Answers:
It is static electricity.. and your car is earthing to ground through your feet. Happened in my previous car and I used to close the door by pushing on the door window.. or wait until my wife got out first... lol.
You can get a little rubber strip with a bit of metal running through it... this is attached to the mudflap, rear bumper or something and in turn actually touches the ground and therefore earthing the vehicle... preventing a shock.
Not sure why this happens in some cars and not others, but it doesn't happen in all cars... maybe depends on the upholstory? .. Might be a bad connection somewhere in the electrical system.
