I'm wondering if any of you have a naturally nocturnal sleeping pattern or pract!

Question:

I'm wondering if any of you have a naturally nocturnal sleeping pattern or practice "free-running" sleep.

I am curious because I find it difficult to sleep normally i.e. at night. So, whenever I have a long vacation and don't have an obligation to be somewhere early, I naturally sleep in the daytime and am awake at night. I used to be worried about this, but I recently read about free-running sleep that says it's healthier to fall asleep when you feel sleepy.

Answers:

It's true. It does not really matter how much sleep you get a night, it's your running total for the week. If you are suppose to get 8 hours a night then at the week's end total should be 56 hours. It you sleep until you wake up and you end up getting 10 hours of sleep then that means that your brain believes that your body needed that, BUT if you find that you are substantially surpassing the 56 hour a week quota then you may be looking at a condition call sleep apnea which can be dangerous.
Start charting your sleep in terms of weeks instead of hours a day and see how you fair.
