Hm if i go to the doctors, and he says that i need them out, how long after iget told will they do the 'opersation' , days, weeks, months?

Also how long does it take?
How do they put you on aneasthetics?
How long does it take to heal?
Whats the risk of the 'operation' going wrong?

Answers:

I have the same problem with my tonsils - If I remember correctly, you have to have a recorded number of episodes of tonsilitis (not just swollen tonsils) on your medical records.

When the doctor refers you to an ENT specialist this can take up to 6 months. Then after you've seen the ENT specialist and they say you need your tonsils out - it can be another 6 months before you have the operation!!

I was due to have a pre-op consultaion just before xmas, but due to other medical problems they would'nt allow me to have the operation. Now I've had letters telling me that they are goin to take my name off the list because it's been on their list too long - and that wouldn't be good for government records would it!!!!!!! Charming.

Anyway, when I went to see the ENT she told me that I'd be in hospital for 2 days - depending on how well it goes. Then I'd need 2 weeks off work to recover.

Hope this helps, and remember waiting lists etc may be different for where you live.
