Do I have a trapped nerve in my back?????!

Question:

Do I have a trapped nerve in my back?????

I have been having pain in my lower back for nearly two weeks now I have pain on the right hand side and it goes from the spine to the kidney area and occasionally the stomach. I went to the hospital as an emergency a week ago because the pain was so bad in my kidney I thought it was a stone, they did scans and it was not, I recently had a stone in the left kidney so that is why I thought it could be another stone. They admitted me into hospital didn`t do anything except give me pain relief, which by the way didn`t work that well, and after a couple of days said it was probably a trapped nerve even though they hadn`t done any tests to determine this, I still have alot of pain it can sometimes feel better when I move about but when I am sitting for a while it hurts again. I read that going to a chiropractor or oesteopath can help, I am so desperate for the pain to go, I have also been applying a cold pack every few hours for about 15-20mins, the doctors are no help any suggestions????

Answers:

This kind of pain from the spine, around the kidneys and the stomach can be a trapped nerve. Can you remember what you were doing before it started? My suggestion would be to go and see an Osteopath, not a Chiropractor. The reason being that Osteopaths use more remedial massage in their technique, and particularly with nerve damage. At least get the advice of an Osteopath, but depending on where you live, you will probably have to pay a total of around £40 for the consultation and treatment combined, unless your insurance will pay.

Please see an Osteopath. They will tell you what is wrong and will refer you back to your GP or the hospital, with a written diagnosis if they are not able to treat the condition. Meanwhile, you are doing the right things for the current pain. I hope you will feel better soon.
