Hi , my brother had microdiscectomy for ruptured disc on his back on june 2007.after 10 days still he had pain

and there was some blood clot near the operation site and got it operated.he was asked to take bed rest for 3 weeks.now it is 4 days after the 2nd operation he still have the leg pain.but back pain is getting reduced...can anyone help me out in this matter.will his leg pain go off ? or his surgery is a failure...

Don't worry...it hasn't been too long after the operation. You will probably know within 6-8 weeks or possibly a little longer after surgery. You should ask the doctor about it next time you see the doctor, or you could call the doctor just to ask, but most likely he just needs some more time for recovery. So right now it's still too early to tell if the surgery was successful.
