Do I need a Tetnus Jab?!

Question:

Do I need a Tetnus Jab?

I had an accident with a stapler the other day at work, and managed to get a staple stuck in my thumb, kind of wedged under my finger nail. The children at the nursery I work at will probably be scarred for life from the torrent of swearing that followed.
Anyway, the first aider pulled it out for me (more swearing), and we phoned NHS Direct and the guy said to make an appointment with my GP and have a tetnus shot.
But now, it looks and feels fine - no swelling, discoloration, oozing or soreness, just a little red dot.
So do I still need a Tetnus Jab? I'm also four months pregnant, so can you even have one when you're pregnant???
I'll still make an appointment, if I have to, but I dont really want to waste their (or my) time if I dont need or cant have one. What do you think?

Hehe, I was exaggerating, i didn't swear that much in front of the children, lol, though it bloody hurt!!
The ones in my room are babies anyway, so I dont think they minded that much :-)

Answers:

It's Generally safe to receive a Tetanus shot during your second trimester but I think I would skip it for a Staple.

Once you have the baby ask your Doctor if he can give you a tetanus shot and watch yer language in front of the youngens eshhh =)
