My hand gets cold and stings, is that Carpal Tunnel?!

Question: My hand gets cold and stings, is that Carpal Tunnel?
Ok this might sound wierd but more so recently during my animation class after using the mouse for awhile my hand starts to sting and get cold and numbish. One of my friends recently point out the way I hold my xbox controller is bad for my hand and could cause CTS. Instead of normally with my thumb on the right thumbstick and pointer on the trigger I put my right thumb on the right thumbstick, my right pointer on the "Y" button at rest and my middle finger on the trigger. When I need to use the A,B,X, or Y buttons I use my pointer. Could this really cause it?

Positioning your hands and incorrect angels can cause carpal tunnel, but that is after a long time.
If you hand gets cold and tingles is just means your hand needs some blood circulation. (shake it out a little)
Carpal tunnel is in the joints not in your entire hand. like for example i have carpal tunnel and tendinitis in both of my wrist, from positioning my wrists on the surface of the table when typing rather then raised off the surface.

I found out i had this because my joint hurt to where i could not lift something as light as a glass of water or even pull my pants up (not funny at all) ... a large bump also popped out on each wrist (liquid buildup from the joints) i had to where splinters for a couple of months and once in a wile it acts up again.

what you have might be the beginning carpal tunnel so just be careful how you position your joints make sure that you are not straining your hand.

believe me its no fun to have this it is painful !

Yes it could. Change your use of the controller so your wrist is at more of a normal angle. You don't have carpal tunnel syndrome yet, but you are agrivating the nerves in the carpal tunnel and could end up with it if you continue to agrivate it. Any time you feel those symptoms change the way you are using your hand and wrist

Sounds like it could be. CTS is nothing to ignore. The longer you wait, the more perm damage it will do. My sister has CTS and waited years before getting it treated, now her left hand is constantly numb, and will remain that way for the rest of her life. Go to a doctor and get an EMG and Nerve Conduction study done.
