Knee problems?!

Question:

Knee problems?

My grandpa had knee surgery and my dad did too so it runs in the family. But during lacrosse season, i slightly tore cartiladge in my knee and was out for a day but got right back. It bothered me a lot and burned whenever i sprinted. It only hurt when i sprinted, i could walk or jog and it wouldnt hurt. Both of my knees are pretty bad. Every once in a while when im walking, my knee will just collapse. Also, whenever my knees are hit, no matter what they start to burn. Most of the pain is around the sides of the knee caps too. The doctor told me i had "osgood schlatter" 2 years ago and that has slowly gone away. But is there anything i can do to get rid of my knee pains.

Answers:

unfortunately - surgery is really the only option when it comes to torn cartilage - it cannot heal itself.
