I just got a small splinter today in my finger. Should I go see a doctor and get!

Question: I just got a small splinter today in my finger. Should I go see a doctor and get it out or leave it?
Today I was outside in my backyard when i grabbed a piece of wood and got a splinter in my index finger that's in pretty deep. I tried getting it out earlier but only half of it came out. I can't get anymore of the wood out and just decided to leave it alone. Should I go see a doctor and get it out, or is it ok to just leave it?

Answers:

I would clean it with an hygienic cleansing wipe alcohol free, and if it's causing you no pain, then leave it, but keep trying to get the rest out, sometimes it can cause an infection, but not always. If it starts to hurt, or look as if it's infected, seek a doctor's advice.

This is going to sound a little odd but try sucking on your finger that has the splinter then see if your able to pinch it so it forces it out or enough to where you can dig it out. If not I would wait for a day and see if it loosened up any before you go to the doctor.

I wouldn't go as far as to go to the doctor unless it was to become infected.. Splinters can be very painful, yes. I would just put some sort of antiseptic spray on it in the mean time. I found this site on splinter removal tips. Hope it helps!

It will work it's way out, if there is any of it on the surface, put Elmer's or white glue on it let it dry then remove the glue. A lot of time this will work to remove one as it will stick to the glue.

leave it bc as it heals it pushes it out little by little

personal experience

if you have health insurance go see a doctor, if you don't than ask a friend to dig it out with a needle.
