Question: Help on how to get rid of heartburn?
does anyone have any advice on how to get rid of heartburn? i've been having it alot recently does it have to do with your diet or what?

Answers:

Hi , getting rid of heartburn can be achieved in many different ways , although temporary medication you find at stores will help suppress heartburn it will not cure it.... you gotta stay away from certain types of foods ... you can find a list and other information at http://fastheartburnrelief.org

Prilosec OTC helps a lot, it does take a few days to kick in and begin working. For immediate relief try Tums or I believe Pepto too. Yes it very much does have to do with your diet and when you eat certain foods, for the most part though, heartburn (acid reflux) is caused by drinks. The worst of them as you may have guessed are the carbonated ones, Coke/Pepsi, etc. The next is sports drinks, so gatorade, poweraide etc. And of course some food can do it too, using a little better judgement you can usually figure out that processed foods are 9 out of 10 times the culprit. Stick to the healthy stuff (outer ring of the grocery store). A lot of times you can still enjoy your drinks by making sure to combine the drinks with food or taking P. OTC. Basically what happens to your body from a subconscious level is you drink lets say Pepsi, and it has tons of sugar in it so your body thinks your "feeding" cause sugar is technically food. Your body produces lots of acid to help digest this food but turns out to be sugar water, so you have built up acid in your stomach for nothing. Then when the carbonation builds up and you burp, some acid comes up and gives you that every so sweet burn. Sarcastic. Now some people have an actual problem with over production of acid but you would most likely know it by now or if you develop it down the line because its really intense and happens everyday with most all your meals. Hope that helps answer your question.

P.S. drinking any of the drinks listed above within 2 hours of sleeping will/can cause the worst heartburn of them all. Because you lay down and when your stomach valve opens to let some acid out you'll be lying flat allowing more to come out and go further up your esophagus causing more pain.

If you've been getting it more frequently that normal for you, than it most likely has something to do with your diet.
However, for the time-being there are many things you can do to relieve the pain of heartburn. If you have Tums/Rolaids, you can try those (however they are not very strong).
If you're experiencing more than moderate heart burn pain, I suggest taking an "Acid Reducer" pill. They take about 15 minutes to kick in, but they work great.
If you don't want to take medicines, try drinking a glass of milk and eating some toast (be sure to not put anything on the toast that could cause further heart burn)
Good Luck :)

Nasuea, HEARTBURN, indigestion, upset stomach, diahrea, hey pepto Bismo! Try pepto Bismo, although spicy foods and sour candy both give you heartburn. The acid content in the sour candy causes it, and the spicy stuff (chili, chili powder, etc.) causes it also. As I said earlier, try pepto Bismo, don't eat as much spicy foods or sour candy and you should be fine. Also, you may have acid reflux disease.

Try those antacids: Mylanta; Pink Lady. Those used in Emergency Department in the hospital I work at (in Australia).
Best things to do - go to closest pharmacy and ask for any antacid which you can buy without prescription. Do not fall for most expensive.
Next step is go to doctor and ask to check your heartburn and check for Helicopter Pylori, which can be a reason you have this problem. It can be treated. Research on internet all info I told you.
