Could be a number of things. Could be bad posture, scoliosis, your mattress may be old and broken down, lack of exercise. Have you been in a car accident or had some sort of sports injury? Reasons for back pain are numerous.

Try to look for a chiropractor that specializes in the gentler more pain-free kind of care. The more aggressive ones can really hurt you if they don't get it just right. Massage or acupuncture are some other options you could look into.

When muscles tighten and shorten, it causes even more muscle fibres than
are needed for good posture to also contract at the same time.

This means that these muscle fibres are working over-time and are
shortening the muscle, which in turn restricts the range of movement of that
muscle.

Also because the muscle is shorter it has to contract even more to
do the same amount of work as a relaxed, longer muscle. As a result of the muscle having to work even harder lactic acid builds up quicker in the muscle which causes muscle fatigue and pain.

The solution to this problem is simple! I have found some exercises for
lower back pain relief and they release the tension and reduce the pain.
