Not really, the odds are 1/4 chance of AA, 1/2 chance of AS, 1/4 chance of SS.

There are ways using IVF for implantation and then having a CVS (chorionic vilus sampling) to test for the genotype, its a little more complicated than the ordinary HbS test, but will show you which babies have which type. You could then choose to have any baby with the SS type terminated and the healthy babies left, however, there is an obvious moral dilemma here, in that choosing to abort a single foetus whilst leaving others is considered unethical by many. You also run the risk of losing all as the CVS test itself has its own risks.

I'm not sure where the medical world stands on this right now, I am sure you could get this done if you searched around enough, but you will always have to be certain yourselves in what you are doing.

Talk to your doctor about it, the CVS test would be offered in a normal pregnancy anyway, if it came out showing the baby as SS then you would have the option of terminating, again, this has to be clear on your conscience, you have to be strong for such situations.

I can only wish you luck, its a difficult time having children anyway without the added concern here, but I think talking over your options with your doctor should be your next move. Good luck.

you should go to doctors immediately.
