Question: I need my medical records?
hi i need to see my medical records as i was misdiagnosed i was told 20 years ago that i had anorexia but i did not have the symptoms .i have now been told i have an eating phobia .but i am on benefits i have been told it will cost me ￡50 to get them this seems a lot can i get them at a lower price ,thank you sheila

Ask the Citizens Advice Bureau , I know there is a cost involved but I would imagine this might be reduced for someone in your circumstances

Unfortunately the fee is ￡50 but by law they cannot charge any more than that, to obtain your medical records you would either have to apply for them through your GP surgery or you will have to get in contact with your local primary care trust (PCT)

Depends on your own personal situation - but you may find that the records have been destroyed.

Before you start paying out money it is worth checking on NHS/Department of health Website about the storage of patient information
