Pain in belly button after getting appendix removed?!

Question: Pain in belly button after getting appendix removed?
I had my appendix taken out on Jan 29th. The doctor made 3 incisions, one in my belly button, another on the middle left and a last one on the middle bottom. ...I was sick in the hospital for 3 days.

A week later I felt a needle-like pain in my belly button, but it went away just minutes later...so I ignored it - figured it was nothing.

Now, the pain is back...its constant but in addition, when I try to move it hurts more. It feels like a needle is being poked there and it hurts more when I touch it.

Could this be something serious? Neither of the other 2 incisions points hurt.

Answers:

I don't think so. I think it is just the stitch or 2 in the navel. Remember you have a layer of muscle covering all the organs in your belly, they had to go through it to get to your appendix. Even the slightest movement could be aggravating the area where the stitches are. I know from plenty of stitches in sensitive areas, and when those stitches are "pulled" even slightly it does feel like a needle poking you. As for the other 2 holes not bothering you, that is because the hole they made in the belly button
(navel) was larger as it was the hole they did everything through. The other 2 were holes they used for the light and suction.

Anatomy classes and personal experience.

I dont think its anything serious. i had my gallbladder removed and had an incision in my bellybutton and it hurt really bad too. just be sure to keep it clean with peroxide and you should be fine.

go see the doctor!
