This is caused by inflammation of the lungs due to breathing very fine particles and/or aerosols caused by welding.
You may not be cleaning your aluminum properly, or not using clean welding rods. In theory, under ideal conditions TIG welding should emit minimal fumes. The only reason there would be smoke and fumes is if there were grease or other organic materials on the work piece. In the case of aluminum cleanliness also affects the weld quality a good deal. Organic matter like oils causes porosity in the weld.
Another possibility is ozone. Ultraviolet light from the arc creates small but significant amounts of ozone by breaking down oxygen molecules in the air.
In both cases, fumes or ozone, you can solve the problem by using a supplied-air welding hood.
