Infected ear lobe piercing, should I take the earring out?!

Question: Infected ear lobe piercing, should I take the earring out?
It's SLIGHTLY sore (slightly), red and puffy....no puss or anything is coming out, though when I cleaned it this morning, the was a tiny bit of blood on the q-tip...I may have been being to rough when cleaning it though.

My question is, should I take the earring out (and continue to treat it) ORRR,leave it in...and continue to treat it???

I feel like leaving it in is just making it worse.

On the other hand...

I worry that if I take it out, the infection will become trapped!

WHAT SHOULD I DO!?!?

Change it into a different material..
Do NOT take it out and leave it out you are correct in saying the infection will become trapped.
At Ardene's and Clarire's you can get surgical steel earrings and body jewellery. It is almost impossib;e you will be allergic to it. I, personally, am allergic to most metaloids and have had over 60 piercings without an allergy.
As for cleaning it never use peroxide or polysporin.
Use sea salt and warm water and soak it.
Do NOT use the "piercing cleaner" Ardene's and Claire's sell.

Take it out it might be an allergic reaction to the material in the earrings
