How bad is insomnia for a pregnant woman?!

Question:

How bad is insomnia for a pregnant woman?

I want to sleep but I cannot. The doctor told me to take Tylenol PM but that does not work, and then he told me to take benadryl, and that does not work for me either. I hardly sleep at all anymore, please tell me, how bad for my baby is this? Is no sleep and just relaxing better than taking medicines for sleep? I am not in pain or uncomfortable really, i just cannot sleep, and it is really starting to worry me.

Answers:

Expectant mothers need adequate rest and sleep for the proper growth and development of the baby and also the health maintenance of the would-be- mother. Your ob gyne knows the medicines that can be taken for a pregnant woman like you.

But it seems not to work on you so I suggest you try other techniques based on my experience like reading novels and listening to mellow, classical music that actually lull me to sleep.

If still these techniques dint work for you, try relaxing before sleeping by walking on a nearby park or taking warm glass of milk.

And dont worry too much, think of good memories as you put yourself to sleep.
