I have an open wound, and only pain makes it feel better?!

Question: I have an open wound, and only pain makes it feel better?
It was caused by a bra digging into my skin, and now it's this huge open wound. I have to put band aids on it to keep it from getting worse, it hurts at times, and the only way to make it feel better is to tear the band aid off, which in turn is tearing off the surrounding skin, or scratch until it bleeds.

Oddly enough, only pain makes the pain go away.
But inflicting said pain is only making it worse...

Any ideas? =/

Answers:

When you cause more pain to it, your body is rushing to help dull the newer oncoming pain. I wouldn't recommend doing more physical harm on yourself as it already sounds infected. If possible try wearing a sports bra for a while (something comfortable that won't dig into your skin) and look for a better fitting bra that won't cause that kind of injury. Depending on how long you have had an open wound you should really see a doctor. In the meantime wash the wound well and use a cotton bandage (much more breathable) with medical tape rather than a bandaid, along with some light covering of antibiotic cream. Also, leave the wound alone after you clean and bandage. The more you mess with it, the worse it will get.

I'm clumsy.

Let it breath and try not to wear a bra for a week. If its not infected then put nothing on it but if it is got see a Dr. Take tylenol as a pain reliever. If you have to cover it don't use bandaids use breathable gauzes or bandages goodluck.

If you want it to heal you'll just have to suck it up. If it gets really bad you could try pain pills, but this doesn't sound nearly that serious.

polysporean

You're just emo...just kidding, don't scratch at it that only makes it worse try to ignore it
