I have UPPERBACK pain...what does that mean??!

Question:

I have UPPERBACK pain...what does that mean??

whenever I do something MY UPPER BACK ALWAYS HURTS..SUCH as when I lay down on my side or lean forword and it is painful...and i'm thinkin'g that it's because I have CEREBRAL PALSY(I was born with it) and that adds stress to my life at ONLY 16 YEARS OF AGE...SO SOMEONE OUT THERE PLEASE HELP.

Answers:

Considering the nature of cerebral palsy (I have a few friends with it), I'm not too surprised that it's showing up as pain in your back. You're probably also having difficulty maintaining good posture- which would also cause back pain.

Try asking about exercises to strengthen your back and abdomen muscles, and improve your posture. It won't hurt, in any case.

Ask your doctor about other possible causes of back trouble too- such as arthritis. Believe it or not, it can show up in young people such as yourself.

Good luck!
