Why are the veins in the top of my one hand large today?!

Question:

Why are the veins in the top of my one hand large today?

I just noticed that on the top of my left hand where my veins are, they appear bigger and are sticking slightly above the surface, and thers like 3 big bumps that i notice. kinda freaking me out haha, anyone know what it might be from?

Answers:

Your veins become more prominent when you have your hand in a dependant position (like hanging down below your heart), when you get hot (vaso dialation occurs to try to bring the blood to the surface of your skin in an attempt to keep it normal temperature), when you use your hands, and when you apply pressure and the blood cannot travel up the vein into the rest of the body. Those little bumps you see in your vein are valves. That's how the blood moves against gravity and back to your heart to get oxygen. You're fine.. no worries.
