See your health care provider as soon as possible (gastroenterologist), for consultation. Difficulty swallowing (dysphagia) is the sensation that food is not moving normally from the throat to the stomach or that it has become stuck on the way down. A swallowing difficulty can result from impediments to the movement of liquids and solids by mechanical blockage of the throat, esophagus, and nearby organs, as is the case with esophageal cancer. A swallowing difficulty can also be caused by problems in the nervous system or muscles. Finally, a swallowing difficulty may be imagined (psychogenic).

This proved to be a Schatszki's ring: a benign, fleshy protrusion capable of retarding the passage of solid food from the lower end of the esophagus into the stomach. Believed by some to be congenital, a Schatzski's ring can produce obstructive symptoms such as pain or discomfort while swallowing solid food, particularly meat (hence its nickname: "steakhouse syndrome").

Medication known to produce a little-known condition called "pill dysphagia, " difficulty in swallowing due to drugs capable of causing inflammation and eventual narrowing or stricture of the lower esophagus. Most cases of pill dysphagia arise from antibiotics, notably doxycycline (Vibramycin). Other pills commonly involved in pill dysphagia are potassium tablets, aspirin, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), corticosteroids such as prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), and the heart drug quinidine (Cardioquin).
I hope this helps you. And good luck.
