If it was a "very small dose" & you've been "off" of it for awhile, you may be able to stop taking it altogether, but talk to your doctor. This is very important, as he needs to know you're weaning!

It's best to stretch it out by gradually cutting back on the dosage. If you take it every day, go to every other day or cut the dose in half if possible. Gradually increase the time between doses until you're completely off of it- usually about 30 days.

Clonazepam the GENERIC for Klonopin has a very long half life. This means that it stays in your system for a very long time and if not tapered down can cause you trouble down the road. It needs to be done a little at a time and watched by a doctor. I tried once to go "cold turkey" and just stop in and three months later, I got really uncomfortable and nervous and did not know why. I went to my Dr. and he told me it was from the Klonopin. Even though it had been three months. He put me back on it and tapered it done and all was well. Good luck.

I was on a high does and weaned off because I found out I was pregnant....I was taking 1milagram 3 times a day....any ways...you can't just do it cold turkey it could be dangous. Start by taking your regular doses in half for a while then take those doses in half then only take it once a day ....when your at the low dose possible then just get ride of it. Take less and less until there is the least possiable dose then get off....if you have trouble sleeping take benadryl or diphenhidramine....or any sleep aide that fits you just until just body evens out.
