Help with handwritting please?!

Question:

Help with handwritting please?

i had a car accident breaking many bones. one of which is my upper right arm. i now have a plate around the bone in my arm. i have a really hard time with handwritting. its not very readable, its like when i try to write my hand is jittery or something. i have putty that ive been squeezing since the accident(9/26/06), and i try to write with it as much as possible. i want to know if there is anything i can do to help my handwritting. im not sure if its bc my muscles in my hand arent strong enough or not. i was laid up for like 5 months so im not sure if my muscle weakended or what. they said there wasnt any nerve damage in my arm. so is there any website i can print out something i can practice with. please ne help would be greatly appreciated!

Honestly, it sounds like you need either physical therapy or occupational therapy. I was once laid up for a few months after a car wreck where my leg muscles atrophied....couldn't pick my foot up off the floor to walk. Physical therapy did wonders for me.

Go back to your doctor and tell and show him/her what your hand is doing. He/She can refer you for physical or occupational therapy. It wouldn't surprise me if your muscles are weak.

Right now I am recuperating from trigger thumb and trigger finger surgery. I have been told to make a fist, then open the hand often throughout the day. Squeezing a stress ball has also been recommended. A physical therapist told me to fan out my fingers and then bring them back together.

Here are two sites that give information about hand exercises that may help.

But, if I were you, I would go to the doctor and hopefully he/she will send you to the physical or occupational therapist so a correct exercise regimen can be given to you.
