Has anyone had the nails and screws removed after a tibia/fibula fracture?!


Question:

Has anyone had the nails and screws removed after a tibia/fibula fracture?

I still have pain after 4 years and don't know if removal would hurt or help. My doctor says yes but he is a surgeon.
