I am having significant shoulder pain and am not sure what to do?!

Question:

I am having significant shoulder pain and am not sure what to do?

I have already went to a doctor, but it was a walk in clinic, because I have no insurance. He thought it was tendonitis, or possibly a tear in a ligament. Prescribed me to prednisone and gave me a couple of pain pills. I have been on the steroids for 6 days now, andthere has been no decrease in my pain level, and i was forced to take time off of work, as I could not perform my job. Now I am worried that this isnt going to get better with the steroids, and I am not sure if I can go see a specialist due to the afformentioned "no insurance," Is there anything I can do to make this get better? I only have 3 days left of steroids, should I have noticed achange already? And if this hurts so damn bad why di he only give me 5 pain pills?

Answers:

sounds like regardless of what it is, not much you can do about it without insurance. you should have felt some relief at least by now from the prednisone. you probably only got 5 pills, 'cuz 1-dr. maybe thought the prednisone would work, and 2-because pain medication is addictive. so they limit what they give you.

if you go back to the dr., he will probably tell you to go to physical therapy. but with no insurance, it is expensive.
