What is wrong with my knee?!

Question: What is wrong with my knee?
About 2 months ago I was going down some icy stairs with something in my hands and I slipped and fell onto my knees down the stairs, I landed on my knees, most of my weight on my right knee- onto asphalt. It hurt pretty bad and it was sore for a while and I figured it would go away. It didn't really bother me until recently. This past week I have been waking up around 4 am with intense pain in my right knee- it feels like I've had my knee bent backwards all night but it's straight or bent normally. I tried sleeping with it propped on a pillow but it didn't help. I also have recently noticed pain during the day if I have my knee bent too long or in the same position too long. It just feels out of place. It hurts right under the knee cap and there is no swelling or warmth. I have always exercised (run on treadmill- which may irritate it). What on earth is going on and should I go to the dr or will it heal on its own?

Your kneecap is not tracking right, which may be from the injury that you experienced. You need to see an ortheopedic surgeon for that. They are best with this type of injury. You can expect a full knee examination, and an xray. If the doctor thinks its necissary, then you make recieve a mri. Your injury will not heal on its own.

Past experience! Ps: Hope your knee gets better!

see your doctor and get an x-ray taken, the patella ( kneecap) could be broken or dislocated,do it soon it will calcify on you.
