Infected hangnail question?!


Question: Infected hangnail question?
About a week ago I pulled a hangnail out of my thumb, it became infected. I soaked it in warm water with epsom salt, put Neosporin on it and wrapped it up. It's no longer painful, and I'm pretty sure all of the infection is out, but it's still red and bruised looking. I still wear a band-aid, but I'm not sure why it still looks like this. Can someone tell me why, or have any ideas?

It sounds like it is still healing. The most important thing is to keep an eye on it for infection. You have already done the right things. If the pain returns, or if it feels hot to touch, or if the swelling increases, or if you see red lines coming from the site, you should check with your doctor.

saame thing happend to me , like 3 months ago . thats goood what you did , continue putting some medicine in it , and soaking it wwith hydrogen peroxide , make sure it doesnt open again . and if its still red in a couple of days/weeeks , ask a doc. ( :
