Hi just wondering if its normal to get pressure and discomfort as well as itching on my backside with a hemorrhoid?

Absolutely it's normal - frankly you're lucky if you don't have those symptoms when you get one, and you usually have at least one of them, or a combination.
Try the old standby, Preparation H - it reduces the swelling and stops the itching pretty fast. Even models use it on their eyes to reduce the puffiness.
Just make sure you use a glove when you apply it....
