Numbness and swelling with stitches?!

Numbness and swelling with stitches?
On saturday night I cut my finger and needed stitches. The area around the stitches is numb and still swollen and it's tough to straighten out my finger.The cut doesn't look infected at all. I've asked a couple family members and friends and they say it's probably nothing to worry about. Is this true or should I have it checked out?
Answers:
if it's not hot to the touch, red, or oozing bizarre fluids, leave it alone. if it starts doing any or all of those things, call your dr.
