Sedation during colonoscopy?!

Question:

Sedation during colonoscopy?

I am having a colonoscopy soon and i am dreading it (well who wouldnt!). I've been told that you are given sedation to relax you, just wondering if there is different deegrees of sedation. I want to make sure i go to sleep during the procedure, so can i ask to be heavely sedated or is it the same dose for everyone?

Answers:

Well done you for having it done. Just make sure they give you enough sedation and the memory blocker drug afterwards so you wipe it from your mind. Also tell them of any other painkillers you are taking literally ANYTHING as it may affect the sedation. If you feel ANYTHING at all just shout and the surgeon should stop and see if you are ok.Please let them know. Afterwards when they wheel you back to your room or whatever you'll have chronic wind which will expel the moment you move [ this gets you a round of applause, honestly!] Get tucked in nice and cosy and have a good sleep i hope it goes okay for you. Yes the dose does vary according to your weight but still ask for more. LOL xxx
