Is this a kidney/bladder infection or something else?!

Question: Is this a kidney/bladder infection or something else?
Is this a kidney infection or something else?
I've been drinking alot of water alittle before I go to bed, and several times in the middle of the night I have to go to the bathroom. Last night on one of my trips to the bathroom, I noticed a slight sharp pain on my right side between my ribs and lower stomach. I still have it now and was wondering if this is a kidney infection or something. Should I go to the doctor or will this go away on it's own if I stop drinking water right before bed? Also, I drink alittle coffee (1/2 cup) every morning with a pastry. Thanks for you help.

No do not stop drinking water. Also cranberry juice is very good too. You want lots of clear fluids to flush out the system. if you do go to the doc like the one poster said, take a sample of your first morning urine when it is usually the most concentrated. They will test it to see if there is an infection.

Worked in OB/ GYN and Peds.

I had a kidney infection once and I ended up in hospital for not seeking medical attention, my symptoms; i had a pulling sensation while I was urinanting and my lower back would throb so hard I couldn't walk, you sound like you have a bladder infection, dont let it spread to your kidneys it sucks!!! Good way to prevent them, urinate after sex this is not a myth if you urinate after sex it helps prevent them always drink a good amount of water not to much soft drink!

If it is an infection your urine would be cloudy and smelly. keep up with the water as it is flushing your bladder out. take a sample to the dr`s to be tested on mon

experience of life!!

kidney problems from diabetes? Avoid sugar. Get tested.
